Is it possible to train a chicken or rooster to play a toy piano?

I just caught an early episode of "The Golden Girls," and Rose (Betty White) had a rooster that played "Old McDonald had a farm" on a little toy piano.

Does anyone know how a chicken (or rooster) can be taught to play a piano?|||CGI is a wonderful thing|||on " The golden Girls" they have a way of making it seem that it is lplayin the piano. no it is not possible, sorry.|||My opinion is someone was really bored. I believe there was seed on the keys making the bird peck.

This may have been a rescue bird ( I hope) I hope they did not take this chicken out of its natural enviroment to train it to spend its life entertaining people. If they starved the chicken then gave it a piano with seeds on it, I am sure it would have pecked anything. So would you or I if we were hungry enough.

Some birds are easily trained to talk or sing. Chickens are not one of those birds.|||if its possible that u can ask such question y ant those chickens and roosters play a toy piano but on one condition u hav to teach them|||impossible is nothing :)|||The answer is YES. Birds are not as stupid as people think. You should look into the research of famous behaviorist psychologist B.F. Skinner and the birds he taught. In fact most animals are taught by positive reinforcement such as described in Skinner's research. So for all you people who said that chickens CANT be trained, stick to what you know, because you sure dont know about chickens. ;) On a side note Roosters may be more difficult to train as they are very independent and protective of Hens. A rooster will often stand guard and let his hens eat first before he himself will eat. How many guys you know who do that? ;)|||That is how it is done. you can't see it but a piece of corn or something the cock likes is deposited on each note by a cam and crank. motor these days. The bird brain just eats the tidbit.

Yes I have seen this and many other things.|||Yes it can be done. Knott's Berry Farm amusment park used to have severa. You put in a quarter a light bulb came on to cue thew chicken and it played the tune. When it was done it was given feed. They are trained one note at a time. They learn a note , get a seed. Gradually the have to play all the notes to get fed.

I believe Knotts quit having them because some people thought the chickens were exploited. I don't see anything wrong with traing the birds, I don't see how it was cruel at all. Besides playing piano is better than fried.|||You've no "clucking chance" :)

More chance of it whistling Dixie :)|||You won't be able to get it to play anything tuneful, but given some encouragement, you might be able to get it to peck.

I found this - a chicken pecking on command

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-HhHVu3I鈥?/a>|||Yep - get a little old lady farmer who has raised chickens for eggs all her life. They can teach a chicken anything.|||u cud put seed on the piano and the bird might peck it and play a note
