How do I remove wooden plaque from a wooden toy box?

I have a wooden toy box, which has wooden characters of winnie the pooh which have been glued on. What is the best way of removing the glue so I can remove the characters?|||It depends a lot of the glue. If it's PVA (carpenter's white or yellow glue), then vinegar and water. Otherwise, there probably is not a solvent, but you might try heat. Most factories use other types of glues, some of which are radio frequency cured.

Realize that you will likely have a mess and/or unfinished wood under the appliqu茅s. Unless you are planning to strip and refinish, it may look worse.|||You could try damping the area to be lifted, placing in microwave, and see if the steam has softened the glue,

A knife with a thin blade might be useful here
