How can I find an indestructable toy for my dog?

I have a 10 month old Lab that destroys all his toys and eats the little pieces. I'm scared he'll get something stuck in his stomach and have to have surgery like one of my other dogs had. I've bought him toys that are suppose to be durable...like the KONG. He broke the kong in pieces in less than 1 hour. When I take his toys away he just goes to the yard and breaks and eats sticks and branches fromt he trees. I feel bad for him because he has nothing to play with. Does anyone know of anything else I can try or maybe how to make some sort of durable toy for him? Someone suggested a very small car tire hung from a tree, but that seems a bit extreme.|||You can give him Nyla bones. They are bones that are good for the dog's teeth. He will break them but they are pretty strong and at least they are actually meant to be eaten.|||Hello! I have had a lab for 13 years and when she was young she was a MAJOR chewer that did exactly what your lab is doing. My family did a couple of things for her. First, we went to a butcher and got her a very large cow bone. I can't comment on if that's the right thing to do, but she never had any health problems or problems with her teeth, but she loved it and it lasted a very long time. The second thing we had for her was a rope with hard rubber 'stops' at each end so it wouldn't come untied. It was a very large piece of rope so the strands did not come loose and get in her teeth. She also enjoyed that very much and it lasted for about 8 months. Hopefully this will help some, labs can definitely do some serious chewing as you've already discovered.|||Good luck with that. I have a dog that destroys Kongs too. How about a bowling ball? Small tires can be a good idea.LOL|||Have you tried one of the black Kongs? If not, mix up some peanut butter and food or treats, fill it up the rest of the way with water too, and put it in the freezer. Your lab should sit there and lick it for quite some time (and it'll be a great way to beat the heat). My lab is quite a chewer, too, but the few toys he hasn't destroyed (mainly because there's food associated with them ha ha - there's a reason why his name is Chunk) are the Good/Bad Cuz and the Everlasting Treat Ball. You can get those at Petsmart. Good luck!|||Try giving him some rawhide. He is still a puppy. Did you give him the black Kong that is for aggressive chewers? If he's chewing furniture or other things try using bitter apple spray. It leaves a bad taste in their mouth and they don't like it so they won't chew it. Good Luck! I hope everything works out!|||Labradors are aggressive chewers. Get him a lawnmower tire and go cut some nice size branches off a tree. It will stop him from chewing on things he is not suppose to chew.A bowling ball is good also.It want hurt him to chew the tree branches.

I have 5 Labs and that's all I could get for mine. They seem happy with it.You don't have to hang to tire from a tree.Mine use it like a frizzby.NOT a Bicycle Tire..|||Try a Galileo Souper...I have three Pit mixes and the bones have lasted almost 4 years now...I have to occassionally sand them down due to rough edges but otherwise awesome. Also try toys for tigers...links below!|||tire from a tree, a bowling ball %26amp; a nylon bone are what i gave my pitbull to play with|||Yeah, I know what its like. I have a 5 year old Lab as well and just like you said all the supposed "indestructible" dog toys they try to sell you are broken apart in no time at all. The best thing I've ever found was an old basketball ball on the street. While not busted it was maybe 20% flat, just enough so my Lab could press down on it and carry it around. Due to the basketball's tough surface she is yet to destroy it. So while I found mine by accident if I was you I'd just get a basketball (netball works, but can flake) and deflate it just enough so it can be pushed in a bit. Good luck with it.|||Check this place out. I have toys from them for My 2 Goldens and they have help up.

They rate their toy from 1 to 5. 5 being for the most agressive chewers. They also offer a refund if you dog does manage to destroy it.|||We used to be able to buy 'Cresite' hard rubber balls. Supposedly they were "Pit Bull Proof." NOT!

But, I've had the hardest of dogs (those that broke those rubber balls in half) able to retrieve things as fragile as raw eggs - and not break the shells.

The trick is to teach them to be attentive of their responsibility not to destroy things (just like you have to teach children the same thing). The training time will be very much worth the time and effort, and the hundred bucks or so you'll pay for a class is much cheaper than what you'll pay for the zipper surgery to remove a foreign object from your dog's stomach or intestines.

Once your dog has learned that he must not tear up toys, he'll be able to 'play' with almost anything you would want to share with him.

"Chew" toys, as articles designed to help him exercise his teeth and gums, are a different thing. For that I like the Nylabone "wolf-size" in the original hambone scent. But I'm the cautious type, so the dogs only get 'chew time' when supervised.|||Nothing is indestructable, but the closest I have found are made by fat cat. You can get President Bush, the mailman, a referee, cats, sheep, snakes, birds, squirrels, and all sorts of things that dogs love to chew on! They are designed for the toughest chewers, triple sewn, made from very heavu canvas, etc. My dog got the wing off a small bird, and the tip off the snake, but inside there is a long strap that she couldn't get through!

I have found that Target has the biggest selection of these, but you can get them at most pet stores, and I have even seen them at Walmart.|||He broke a Kong? That can't be a real Kong, I have a staffy who eats everything but he cant destroy his Kong so he doesn't like it. Don't they have an indestructible warranty. Get the Extreme Kong instead http://www.kongcompany.com/worlds_best.h鈥?/a>|||go 2 a junk yard it worked for me
